This live CD is made up of sets from the 2001 High Zero Festival. Go and look at their website. Its one of the most amazing things I have ever participated in. Each year, the Red Room Collective invites a slew of individual improvisers from all over the world. The musicians run teh gamut of improvised music, coming from as many approaches as one could ever imagine. They are then carefully placed into ensembles, trying hard to be sure that no one person in each ensemble has played with any other, and that the combinations are unlikely and intriguing. These groups , never having rehearsed and maybe having just met, then play a set of fantastic improvised music before an audience of around two hundred people. In addition, bizzarre and lovely sound installations and guerilla street performances take place all over the city. I dig it so much that I want to go down and play music and do things with those people in Baltimore all the time, and am planning on moving there in Summer '04.
