Adam Wilson(harmonic cannon), Arto Artiaian(flute), Katt Hernandez(violin, voice).This recording, done at the 7A West recording studio, features Adam Wilson on a most remarkable instrument. He built himself a Harmonic Cannon I, a dulcimer-like instrument with about eighty strings originaly invented by Harry Partch. It also features Arto Artinian, flutist and composer, who draws from both jazz and eastern european folk music, as well as twentieth century compositional ideas, in his improvisation. The music is heavily influenced by Partch, as well as eastern european folk music and japanese noh theater music and shakuhachi techniques. It is intense and, well, dark. The cover art, by Hans Rickheit, is fantastically detailed and maulti-fauceted.
